This is my blog about my growth and journey in drawing and art in general. My goals, success's, and my frustrations with the technical aspects of it all. Since I am going for a AA Degree in Visual Arts, 3D Design and need to take some more general education classes to get it, writing this blog might just help me practice my writing skills.

Tone study

Charcoal on Paper 18x24
I had an okay week in class's. I think I blew my art history quiz. I confused styles of the dutch and french landscape paintings of the 1600's, DOH! Oh well, I should get a "C" on it at least. I've been getting B-'s and A-'s on all of them so far so 1 screw-up won't matter. Maybe it will be a B- this time.
We worked on this tone study drawing all class long on monday, about 4 hours of work.

My life drawings did not come out so well. The face looks too flat, I covered up the highlights too much I think. Maybe I should have put shadows in just like if I was viewing her from the front.

I do not like how this conte drawing came out.
I tried to draw her foot also in the extra space. I don't know what else to say about this one but that she had a nice tattoo, lol.

Well still gotta work on my final self portrait more to get it going. Hopefully this next week will be better.

  1. Great tone study!!! Those are not easy. Beautiful turning edges and gravity shadows.

How did art history go? That final was more brutal (i thought) than the midterm. I think I started making up dates.
